Brutalists

Brutalism is a literary movement formed in 2006 by three writers from the north of England (Tony O'Neill, Adelle Stripe and Ben Myers), and may have been the first literary movement to be launched via MySpace, where it announced itself with the following manifesto:
"Brutalism calls for writing that touches upon levels of raw honesty that is a lacking from most mainstream fiction. We cannot simply sit around waiting to be discovered — we would rather do it ourselves. Total control, total creativity. The Brutalists see ourselves as a band who have put down their instruments and picked up their pens and scalpels instead. "The only maxim we adhere to is an old punk belief, which we have bastardized for our own means: Here’s a laptop. Here’s a spell-check. Now write a book. "Brutalist writing is open to anyone who shares similar ideas about the role of literature."
Brutalist works include Digging The Vein, Down and Out on Murder Mile, Seizure Wet Dreams, and Songs From The Shooting Gallery by Tony O'Neill, Straight From The Fridge blog and Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid by Adelle Stripe, and The Book Of Fuck and The Missing Kidney by Ben Myers.
Their debut publication Nowhere Fast was released as a chapbook on Captains of Industry Press in 2007.
The Brutalists are affiliated with the Offbeat generation, a loose association of like-minded writers working across different styles but united by their opposition to a mainstream publishing industry driven by marketing departments.
Brutalism 2 Cheap Thrills is released in summer 2009 as part of Mineshaft Magazine.



Los brutalistas es un movimiento de cagatintas formado por tres escritores del norte de England (O`Neill, Stripe y Myers) y es el primer movimiento literario surgido vía Myspace, donde se anunció con el manifiesto siguiente.
"Los Brutos queremos una escritura que toque hueso crudo, que se le vea el hueso pelado y hasta honesto ! que es lo que le falta a la escritura de los que premian alaban y dan conferencias y ganan bocadillos de caballa. No podemos esperar a que nos descubran porque hay como dos millones alrededro nuestro iguales y mejores y a la industria le interesa el Icono, el icono el crack vende o esos dicen así que NOS DESCUBRIMOS NOSOTROS, yo me pongo sombrero tu tepones gorrito y ella se pone hasta las cachas. CONTROL TOTAL, epilético creativismo ( no confundir con cretinismo)( enfermedad de la sangre por falta de reposo).

Los Brutos nos vemos a nosotros mismo como los de Calanda que no paran de dar al tambor hasta que el tambor dice "vale".

Nuestra máxima es aki tienes un bic un papel en blanco o un lataportatil y dale a hacer de Prust o the Vicosqui

Los Brutos estamos dispuestos hacer amigos con todos los que piensen lo mismo sobre el rol de la literatura y el escritor en la sociedad virtual.

Los Bruticos estamos engarzados en la generación Offbeat una asociación sin fuertes mandamientos asociativos mas bien cada quisqui puede pensar lo que quiera pero con un feeling de pensamiento similar y una oposición frontal a que sólo sean escritores esos gilipoyas que escriben en los periódicos ,y sus departamentos adlateres.
