JAN KEROUAC: BIOGRAFIA

Jan, whose resemblance to her father is remarkable, inherited more than just his looks. She also acquired his wanderlust, although it set in much earlier – when she was 15 years old. Like both of her parents, Jan made frequent use of intoxicants and was no stranger to trouble; her mother had her committed to a mental institution early in her teens. Upon her release,
she delved deeper into the underworld of drugs that existed in New York in the 60s, before leaving for Mexico at the age of fifteen.
Her trip to Mexico included a detour to the home of her father, her second and last visit to him. Over the years, she would travel across the country, “bounc[ing] around the states with a reckless abandon that Neal Cassidy would have been hard pressed to keep pace with” (Knight 310). Along the way she wrote and published two autobiographical novels, Baby Driver (1981) and Trainsong (1988). Both books were met with critical acclaim, as her writing has a slick, fast feel that mimics its subject matter.

Jan cuyo parecido a su padre es notable, heredó algo más que sus rasgos. Le encantaba también vagabundear, aunque empezó mucho más pronto, a los 15 años. Como sus padres, Jan hacía mucho uso de drogas y se metía en problemas. Su madre le mandó a un centro mental de rehabilitación muy al comienzo de su adolescencia. Después de su internamiento se enrollo mucho con el mundo de drogas "cañero" que existía en New York en los sesenta, antes de irse a Mexico a la edad de quince años.
Su viaje a Mexico incluyó una vuelta por la casa de su padre, su segunda y última visita. Durante varios años estuvo viajando por EU "meclandose con vagos y maleantes de diferentes estados que Neal Cassidy hubiera tenido problemas de mantenerse en paz con ellos"(Knight 310). Durante el camino escribió y publicó dos novelas autobiográficas, Baby Driver 1981 ( Niña Conduce) y Trainsong (1988) (Chu-chu-chu tren). Los dos libros fueron bien recibidos por la crítica, su escritura tiene y sabe de primera mano lo que está describiendo.
